Instead of asking my flatmate for the internet money a fifth time, I cancelled the internet.
Bills are in my name. We split them. He's paid his half of the internet once since March. Every time I bring it up it's "yep, sorry, will do it tonight" and then nothing. Four months, four reminders, one transfer.
On the 1st I rang the provider and cancelled. Didn't mention it. Wednesday he works from home and had a client call at 10. At 9:55 he came out of his room asking if the router was broken.
I told him I'd cancelled it because I wasn't paying for it by myself anymore and he could sort his own plan. He did the call on his phone hotspot, it dropped twice, and apparently the client is now "reconsidering". He says I sabotaged his job to make a point about $140. I say I gave him four months and a fifth reminder wasn't going to work any better than the first four.
He transferred the $140 that afternoon. Which I'd argue proves the point.

My neighbour's kid practises trumpet at 7am. I started playing the recording back through the wall at 11pm.
Shared wall, old building, the kid is eleven and has been learning trumpet since September. Practice is 7:00 to 7:30 every weekday, including the days I work late shifts and get home at 2am.
I asked nicely in October. The mum said she'd "see what she could do". I asked again in November and got told that's the only slot before school and that children need routine. I asked the building manager, who said instruments are allowed between 7am and 10pm, so nothing to be done.
So I recorded a session through the wall. Thursday at 11pm, which is inside the allowed hours, I played it back at roughly the same volume. Same trumpet, same scales, same kid. Then again on Friday.
Saturday morning she came round and said I was harassing an eleven-year-old. I said I was playing an instrument recording inside permitted hours, exactly like they do. She said it's not the same because her son is learning something. I said her son was learning that the wall goes both ways.
The building group chat is about 60/40 against me. The 40 are the people who share a wall with someone.
